Name
Rachel McGowan
Job Role
Data and Impact Officer
Length of time you have worked at MitC
Volunteered for five months and started paid employment in November.
What are your main responsibilities
My role involves uploading registers from all of our classes on to our systems. I then investigate the data and compile it into monthly reports. These reports are then analysed and used as evidence for funders, as well as to support applications for additional funding.
What does a typical week look like for you
A key part of my role involves gathering data, which includes meeting with coaches and leaders to review essential information such as attendance figures. I am responsible for uploading this data into our internal systems; this is often a detailed and time consuming process. Once all information has been accurately recorded, I analyse the statistics and incorporate them into my monthly report.
What are the best bits of working at MitC
I have a genuine passion for football, and being actively involved in the sport is something that excites me. Before joining Morton in the Community, I ran multiple live events in aid of my local foodbank, helping to provide food parcels for individuals and families in need. That experience strengthened my desire to contribute positively to my community and inspired me to continue supporting others in any way I can. At Morton in the Community, our core mission is to make a meaningful difference in the lives of local people. Being in a role where I can combine my love of football with my commitment to community support is incredibly rewarding.
What has been your biggest success in your role so far
As I am still relatively new in my role, I have not yet had the opportunity to achieve major milestones. However, during my time as a volunteer, I was given the responsibility of creating a personalised Morton in the Community workbook. I dedicated significant time to developing a resource that was both on brand and fully accessible for everyone who would use it. This included incorporating our brand colours and theme, as well as using dyslexia-friendly fonts and ensuring appropriate text sizing. Seeing the initial concept evolve into a fully developed, tangible workbook was a moment of real pride for me. Knowing that it will be used across our activities to support participants is a great feeling.
What are you looking forward to over the next 12 months
I am really looking forward to my own personal growth within the role. I am looking forward to seeing development within our projects.
