Morton Community Club – Statement of Intent
Morton Community Club are proud to announce that we are entering an exciting and progressive chapter in the development of our girls’ football pathway. Behind the scenes, our committee has been working tirelessly to lay the groundwork for introducing U14 and U16 teams into the National Youth Performance League (YPL), operated by Scottish Women’s Football (SWF).
What is the Youth Performance League?
The YPL is a competitive, development-focused league that bridges the gap between grassroots and elite-level football. It provides talented young players with the opportunity to train and compete at a higher standard, helping them to reach their full potential within the game.
A Pathway for All
As we work towards meeting the audit requirements for YPL entry—targeting a league start date in March—we want to reaffirm our continued commitment to our existing U14 and U16 Regional teams. This approach ensures that Morton Community Club provides a clear, inclusive, and supportive pathway for players of all abilities, with opportunities to progress at every stage.
What’s Next?
Open trials for our prospective YPL squads will be held later in the year, with further information to be shared in the coming months.
This is a truly exciting time for Morton Community Club as we continue to build a strong, forward-thinking environment for girls' football in our community.
Blair Kelly – Football For All Lead
“This is an exciting time for the girls' pathway as we work to ensure opportunities for players at every level within Morton Community Club. Our ambition is to see even more players progress from our pathway into the first team. A huge thank you to the committee for the time and effort they’ve invested to get this project off the ground.”
Gary Forbes - Senior Womans team Manage
"With the pathway having teams at performance level that will enhance player development giving more players the opportunity to progress to the first team environment."
